About Our Founders...

Michael (Mike) Edwards, Principal
Mr. Edwards' pharmaceutical and biotech experience has spanned over 36 years including:

  • 11 Years in the Pharmaceutical Industry (Cutter Labs/Bayer)
  • 22 Years in the Bio-Pharmaceutical Industry (Genentech)
  • 3 Years consulting in the Bio-Pharmaceutical Industry

Mr. Edwards’ particular strengths include:

  • Tactical and strategic facilities planning, with a technical facilities focus
  • Real estate, site and master planning, including site and facilities selection
  • Facility and project design conceptualization and development
  • Capital project planning and implementation
  • Resouce planning and selection for assembling effective teams

In addition to his ongoing consulting efforts, he continues to act in an advisory role to both the bay area chapter of the ISPE (International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineers) and Bay Bio, the Northern California life science support association.




Kathleen Imhoff, Principal

Kathleen Imhoff has more than 20 years in developing and managing significant life sciences public/private sector projects, including establishing the optimum strategy and implementation plans necessary to achieve business objectives. Ms. Imhoff's particular focus is early stage companies where she provides business support services, operations set-up, facilities management services and incubator development planning and operations.

She has planned several life sciences innovation centers and led the start-up launch of the highly successful San Jose BioCenter. Her reputation in the Bay Area bioscience community is one of fostering communications amongst professionals from different disciplines and bringing together disparate parties to solve complex development issues related to launching major biosciences projects.

Ms. Imhoff is on the Board of Directors of Leadership California and Mitchell Clark Solutions. She is an active member of the Women's Technology Cluster Advisory Board and a member of the WTC Life Sciences Planning Group.

  • On October 17, 2002, Building Blox Solutions’ Kathleen Imhoff was presented the CCEP Leadership in Economic Development Award for leadership in establishing the Contra Costa Bioscience Incubator.
  • The International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) awarded Kathleen Imhoff, their Honorary Citation for 2000, “for dedication to the issues of education and empowerment, building coalitions and relationships for the betterment of our communities”.

Charles (Chuck) Alaimo, Principal

Mr Alaimo’s experience has spanned more than 22 years in the medical devices and bio-pharmaceutical industries, including:

  • 6 Years with InTek Diagnostics
  • 14 Years with Cor Therapeutics/Millennium
  • 2 Years consulting in the bio-pharmaceutical industry

Mr. Alaimo's particular strengths include a focus on technical facilities and operations in the following areas:

  • Planning and implementing capital projects, including permitting .
  • All aspects of facilities and operations, including training, facilites management, EH&S,procurement and materials management.
  • Real Estate needs assessment and support.
  • Planning and support for building and laboratory related systems.
  • Strategic growth planning for small to mid sized bio-pharmaceutical companies.

In addition to his ongoing consulting efforts, he continues to act in an advisory role to Bay Bio, the Northern California life science support association.
